  Why do you put up with crap off your JW famlies?

  i see where many of you have jw family members that give you a ration of crap once in a while; i've heard many rationalizations as to why some of you refuse to speak out.

  as many of you know, i wrote a series of letters and exposed my apostasy formerly; in the letters i told my family they had better beware of shunning me of treating me like a pile when they run into me, i realized that i couldn't make them accept me into their houses, but in public was a different matter.

  i basically told them that in public, especially at funerals, that i would rain down a load of crap on any family member that shunned me or treated me badly in anyway.

  I can only stand up for myself when I know for sure what I'm talking about and that I'm dead on accurate. If I'm not wholly convinced that I'm right, I lack confidence and can't argue the point. People always demand proof of my statements and I had better have that proof or shut up about it.

  It takes a long time to become convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything I was taught my whole life from birth was wrong. I know it's wrong. Now, I have to find out why it's wrong. Next is really believing that it is wrong based on facts.

  It's a long process and takes time. That is why so many of us stay in the closet. It is only one reason, though.

  Oh, and although I have a college degree, I don't feel better than anyone else. Shame on those who do.

  did you think you might "get contacted" somehow by those powerful demons?

  did you avoid anything the society said was associated with demonism?.

  OK, I'll bet some are laughing about my wild animal scare, but when I can't see or hear what is out there in the dark while camping, I guess you can see where this is a valid fear. It is a mild one, though.

  I was morbidly terrified by them. The worst times that happened was when my mom studied with us and it was about demons. I was so affraid of the dark because of that. Now, I'm not affraid of anything except for wild animals that could be in the dark. I'm much more realistic about things now.

  Why we must obey the F&DS - according to this "brother"

  some may have seen this tid-bit being passed around in certain jw email circles.

  a "deeply concerned" jw relative (who knows i have soured on the whole jw thing) emailed this to me in hopes that it would improve my attitude.

  at first i was just going to thank them for their concern and for the "encourgaging" email, but then i decided i must respond to this.

  I'm playing the wimp for now for the sake of my very old grandparents, one of whom is an elder since the beginning of time immemorial. They have taken such good care of me and still are. I'm doing this as a gift to them for the love they have shown me. I don't want their last thought to be that White Dove won't be there to greet them in the next second of their memory (the first second of their resurrection). It's a gift. Once they have passed on, I may come out of the aposta-closet.

  If I do it prematurely, I will hurt two people who love me very very much and also hurt any chances of getting my other family out of the org. They will not listen to an apostate, but they will give an ear to someone who might be a bit weak but no less still "in."

  It's better this way.

  How many of us remember the Jonestown massacre?

  by that i meant - how many remember being an active jw when this happened?.

  what was the general reaction from the rank & file, the elders, even the co/do?

  does anybody remember there being magazine articles on this?.

  Pretty clouds. We have a light show going on right now. I shouldn't even be on the computer, but it's plugged into a surge protector. I'm also right in front of an open window watching and listening to the show.

  the gardener's soul" and i have really enjoyed the short stories and quotes.

  Children Who Leave Always Come Back to the Society

  i heard this in a car group one day.

  a young single mother said she always heard that growing up.

  when she left she was adamant she would never be back, and now here she was.. is this true for the most part?.

  I am a 4th generation born-in. I left, went back, left, and haven't been back yet. Also, I went through periods of off agains on agains meeting attendance in my adulthood before I left the first time. I went through a couple of months of non-attendance a couple of years before the first leaving.
